Shrine of Imam Reza a.s

Imam Reza a.s was 8th Imam of Muslims and has much importance and popularity among all Muslims as far as in Shiites sect. Shrine of Imam Reza a.s is located in Mashahd city of Iran. The whole building including mosque is one of the largest mosque in dimension and second largest in capacity all over the world. But Shrine of Imam Reza a.s has central position and importance in all building. In 818 Imam Reza was martyred by Al Mamoon, a Abbasid king. Imam Reza was buried beside the grave of Haroon, Abbasid King. Shiites and Sunnis started to visit this grave and with the passing of time the place was extended, many new Bazaars and buildings was erected there.This place was called Mashhad Al Reza meaning as Place of Martyrdom of Ali Al Reza. In 993 this shrine was ruined by Ghaznavid king known as Sabuktagin. But his son Mehmood Ghaznavi ordered again to repair and explore the holy shrine of Imam Reza. This building contained within the complex include: the Goharshad Mosque, a museum, a library, four seminaries, a cemetery, the Razavi University of Islamic Sciences, a dining hall for pilgrims, vast prayer halls, and other buildings.Visitors and pilgrims from all over the world are attracted by this holy, sacred and beautiful shrine.

امام رضا عہ شیعہ مسلک کےماننے والوں اور تمام مسلمانوں کیلئے نہائت اہم اسلامی شخصیت ہیں۔ وہ آٹھویں امام ہیں، ان کو 818 میں المامون عباسی بادشاہ کے حکم پر شہید کرنے کے بعد یہاں دفن کردیاگیا۔ بعد ازاں شیعہ و سنی مسلمنوں نے ان کے مزار پر فاتحہ خوانی کیلئے آناشروع کیا اور رفتہ رفتہ اس جگہ کا نام مشہد امام موسیٰ الرضا عہ مشہور ہوگیا اور دوردراز سے زائرین اپنی حاجت روائی اور دعاؤں کی قبولیابی کیلئے اس مقدس مقام کی طرف آنے لگے۔ 993 میں غزنوی بادشاہ سبکتگین کے حکم پر اس زیارت گاہ کوتاراج کیاگیا مگر اسی سبکتگین کے بیٹے محمود غزنوی کے حکم پر اس زیارت گاہ کو ازسر نو تعمیر کیاگیا۔ وقت گزرنے کے ساتھ اس مزار کے گرداگرد دیگر بہت سے عمارات اور بازاروغیرہ تعمیرہونےہوگئے۔  یہ عظیم الشان عبادت گاہ آرام گاہ، میوزیم، کتب خانہ، سیمینار، مسجد گوہر شاد، جامعہ رضوی پر مشتمل ہے اور 598,657 مربع میٹر پر محیط ہے۔ ہر سال تقریبا 15 ملین افراد امام علی رضا کے مزار کی زیارت کرتے ہیں۔
