Supreme Leader\'s Speech to Government Officials and Participants of Conference on Islamic Unity

The following is the full text of the speech delivered on January 29, 2013 by Ayatollah Khamenei the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution in a meeting with government officials and foreign participants of the 26th Conference on Islamic Unity. The meeting was held on the occasion of the birthday anniversaries of the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) and Imam Sadiq (a.s.).
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I would like to congratulate all of you honorable audience, the dear guests, who have come here from other countries, the ambassadors of Islamic countries and also all the great people of Iran - who proved their kindness and commitment to the issue of prophethood in practice - on this auspicious and great Eid. I also congratulate the entire Islamic Ummah - who has a feeling of unity and unanimity centered on the auspicious name of the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) - on this great Eid. I would like to extend my congratulation to all the liberated people throughout the world on this auspicious Eid. The blessings which have been bestowed on the great birthday of the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) really belong to all the liberated people throughout the world. These blessings belong to all the people who are after liberation, justice and achieving lofty and divine values.

A number of mystics believe that the month of Rabi al-Awwal is the spring of life in the real sense of the word because in this month the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) and also his honorable grandson, Imam Abu Abdullah Ja\'far ibn Muhammad al-Sadiq were born. And the birthday of the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) is the beginning of all the blessings that Allah the Exalted has bestowed on humanity. We - who consider Islam as a tool for humanity to achieve happiness and salvation - [should know that] this divine blessing is because of the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) which has been bestowed on us in this month. In fact, we should consider this great birthday as the beginning of all the blessings with which Allah the Exalted honored the human community, the Islamic Ummah and the followers of truth.
It is not enough to merely celebrate this birthday anniversary. We should primarily strengthen our spiritual relationship with the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.). The world of Islam should strengthen its spiritual and emotional relationship with the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) on a daily basis. This is the common ground between all the Muslims throughout the world. Those whose hearts beat for the formation of the Islamic Ummah should rely on this issue: the spiritual and emotional relationship with the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.). That is to say, they should primarily make a serious decision to follow this great personality in all the issues.
In a number of holy Quranic ayahs, certain points have been explained about the Holy Prophet\'s (s.w.a.) behavior, his political behavior, the kind of government he had and his feeling towards the people - whether towards Muslims or non-Muslims. The moral education of the great companions of the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) and their behavior show the kind of orientation that Islam and the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) adopted towards education of the Islamic Ummah. We should practice these in our own lives. We should do these in practice. It is not enough to say these in words.
Today, the ground is prepared for this issue. Islamic Awakening is a truth and it has happened. After many decades of domination during which the enemies of Islam and the enemies of Muslims spread their domination over Islamic countries - in the form of direct colonialism, neocolonialism, indirect colonialism and in the form of cultural, economic and political domination - the core of awakening has grown gradually. And after many years during which the Muslim nations were crushed under the enormous pressure of domination of the west and European and American governments, Islamic Awakening has been established and it is revealing itself. Today, people throughout the world of Islam feel that Islam is their tool for achieving dignity, glory and independence. Thanks to Islam, all the national dreams of a nation can come true in the world of Islam. Thanks to Islam, Islamic nations can stand up against the domination of the west and against the arrogance, oppressive domination and exploitation of western governments.
And the west has to retreat. Today, you can see this in the world of Islam. More than thirty years ago this event took place in Iran. Today, we also see this in the world of Islam such as in North Africa. Steps are taken towards victory. Of course, there are certain problems, but if we remain vigilant, problems cannot create obstacles in our way. The Holy Quran says, \"They shall by no means harm you but with a slight evil\" [The Holy Quran, 3: 111]. Yes, they harm us and create problems for us. But, if we have determination, rely on God and decide to move forward, they cannot create obstacles in our way.
Today, Islamic nations have awakened. Thanks to Islam, they feel that they can get their message across to the enemies of the world of Islam and the corrupt Zionist network which has established domination over policies of western governments. These victories are very valuable. \"Allah promised you many acquisitions which you will take, then He hastened on this one for you\". This is part of the divine promise which was fulfilled. \"And held back the hands of men from you, and that it may be a sign for the believers and that He may guide you on a right path\" [The Holy Quran, 48: 20]. Each victory that a nation achieves against the enemies and against their propaganda and evil tools is a divine testimony and a divine sign: \"And that it may be a sign\". If you move forward, you will achieve results.
Today the world of Islam is faced with the plots of the enemies. I would tell you dear brothers and sisters - whether Iranian or non-Iranian - that today, the enemy\'s most important tool for confronting Islamic Awakening is creating discord. They want to pitch Muslims against Muslims, destroy Muslims at the hands of Muslims and keep them busy with conflicts. What is better than keeping Muslims busy with conflicts for the enemies of Islamic independence? Since the first day that the Islamic Revolution achieved victory, they pursued the policy of creating discord among our nation and our country. But the Islamic Republic stood up against this plot with absolute determination. We announced, our magnanimous Imam (r.a.) announced and the Iranian nation repeatedly stressed - throughout his lifetime and after his demise - that we believe in Islamic brotherhood.
We condemn any rift among Muslims. This is exactly the opposite of what the enemies\' agents, who use any small incident to create discord among Muslims, want. If you take a look, you see that today the policy of the enemies of Islamic Awakening in North African countries is to create discord. This is the policy of global arrogance. They want to make them kill one another and pitch them against one another.
The cure for this disease is a feeling of unity between Muslims. Muslim nations should become united. Inside each country, different groups, different denominations and different parties should join hands. They should not let religious, political and partisan differences and differences of opinion dominate their major moves so that they can stand up against the enemy. Today, this is the only way. The enemies try to create discord by using all kinds of tricks. You can see this. When Muslims busy themselves with conflicts, the issue of Palestine and standing up against the greed of America and the west will be sidelined and the enemies will find the opportunity to hatch their plots.
Today, we can see that westerners have started a new movement in Africa in order to dominate African nations and to maintain their presence again in the lives of African people. When the fire of discord is kindled, the enemy finds the opportunity to do anything. What disasters they are creating in Pakistan, our neighboring country, under the pretext of differences in this country. How they make a group of people kill another group of people in Syria. How they completely silence the voice of a nation in Bahrain. They deprive a nation of everything. How they pitch the people against one another in Egypt and other areas. These are the policies which may have been shaped as a result of certain individuals\' personal and religious motives. But the main plot has been hatched by the enemies.
I do not accuse anybody of intentionally and willingly hatching the plot of the enemy. But I firmly say that each kind of discord among Muslim nations or inside each Islamic country means that they are playing into the enemies\' hands. This is a kind of help offered to the enemy. Everybody should take the issue of unity seriously. Primarily elites, including political, religious, academic and seminary elites should do this. Elites, wherever they are, should do this. In our country, everybody should take the issue of unity seriously. Creating religious discord among different Muslim groups is a great danger. If the enemies can fuel the fire of sectarian discord somewhere, extinguishing this fire is one of the most difficult tasks. We should prevent this from happening. This is not possible except if the elites, in each country, show their initiative, make efforts and preserve their purity. Scholars, academics, politicians and those who are influential, should explain to the people the plot of the enemy and his hope of creating discord among the people, Islamic countries, Islamic parties, different orientations in different Islamic denominations and between Shia and Sunni. They should inform the people.
This is a great danger which the enemies have been involved with. The English have long experiences in this regard. We have read about them in history books and we can see what they have done to create discord. They know how to do it and the others have learnt this from them. They are busy trying to create discord. We should avoid discord. We should not fuel the fire of discord by arousing shallow and vulgar feelings. This will burn the fate of nations. It will completely destroy them, it will help the enemies of Islam, the enemies of Muslims and the enemies of independence succeed in their goals and it will help them hatch their plots. We should remain vigilant.
Islamic unity is a sacred slogan. If the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) were among us today, he would invite us to promote unity as this holy ayah says, \"It grieves him that you should perish: ardently anxious is he over you: to the believers is he most kind and merciful\" [The Holy Quran, 9: 128]. He would prevent these kinds of discord. If we love the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.), we should meet this major demand that he made.
I ask Allah the Exalted to bestow on all of us the blessing to do what we say.

Imam Hussain (A.S.) in View of Intellects, Philosophers and Orientalists

Edward G. Brown, a professor of Arabic and oriental studies at the University of Cambridge, said a few words on the Master of Martyrs Imam Hussain: "... a reminder of the blood-stained field of Karbala, where the grandson of the Apostle of God fell at length, tortured by thirst and surrounded by the bodies of his murdered kinsmen, has been at anytime since then sufficient to evoke, even in the most lukewarm and heedless, the deepest emotions, the most frantic grief, and an exaltation of spirit before which pain, danger and death shrink to unconsidered trifles," reads page 227 of his book A Literary History of Persia.
72 of Imam's kinsmen accompanied him, and all were slain in the land of Karbala to achieve righteousness. He not only gave himself up but everything possible in the way of God, including his few months old baby Ali Al Asghar, and with unyielding steadfastness.
Thomas Carlyle (Scottish historian and essayist) explains: "The best lesson which we get from the tragedy of Karbala is that Hussain and his companions were rigid believers in God. They illustrated that the numerical superiority does not count when it comes to the truth and the falsehood. The victory of Hussein, despite his minority, marvels me!"

The Sun of Ashoor Will Say It All (Urdu Marsia)

The Day of Ashura  is on the 10th day of Muharram in the Islamic calendar and marks the climax of the Mourning of Muharram.
It is commemorated by Shi'a Muslims as a day of mourning for the martyrdom of Husayn ibn Ali, the grandson of Muhammad at the Battle of Karbala on 10 Muharram in the year 61 AH (in AHc: October 9, and in AHt: October 10, 680 CE). According to Sunni Muslim tradition, Ibn Abbas narrates that when Muhammad came from Makkah to Madina he saw Jews fasting on this day (for the Passover) and fasted on this day and asked other people to fast.
In some Shi'a regions of Muslim countries such as Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Lebanon, and Bahrain, the Commemoration of Husayn ibn Ali has become a national holiday and most ethnic and religious communities participate in it. Even in predominantly Hindu majority but secular country like India, Ashura (10th day in the month of Muharram) is a public holiday.

The Message of Karbala (Urdu Noha)

Salah is the practice of formal worship in Islam. Its importance for Muslims is indicated by its status as one of the Five Pillars of Sunni Islam, of the Ten Practices of the Religion of Twelver Shiʿi Islam and of the seven pillars of Mustaʿlī Ismaili Islam, with a few dispensations for those for whom it would be difficult. For those whom it is physically difficult they can perform Salah in a way suitable for them. To perform valid Salah, Muslims must be in a state of ritual purity, which is mainly achieved by ritual ablution, (wuḍūʾ), according to prescribed procedures.
Salah consists of the repetition of a unit called a rakʿah (pl. rakaʿāt) consisting of prescribed actions and words. The number of obligatory (fard) rakaʿāt varies from two to four according to the time of day or other circumstances (such as Friday congregational worship, which has two rakaʿāt). The minimal, obligatory rakaʿāt may be supplemented with acts that are optional but are considered meritorious.
For Muslims of the Sunni and Ismaili Mustaʿlī persuasions, obligatory salah is prescribed at five periods of the day. These are measured according to the movement of the sun. These are: near dawn (fajr), after midday has passed and the sun starts to tilt downwards / Noon (dhuhr or ẓuhr), in the afternoon (asr), just after sunset (maghrib) and around nightfall ('isha'). Under some circumstances ritual worship can be shortened or combined (according to prescribed procedures). In case a ritual worship is not performed at the right time, it must be performed later. Muslim doctrine permits ẓuhr (ظهر, "noon") and ʿaṣr (عصر, "afternoon") prayers to be performed in succession.

A Chinese Muslim scholar says he has been deeply impressed by simple life-style and great personality of Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic and the leader of the Muslim World. Ahmad al-Sharif, Imam of congressional prayers of main mosque in Zhejiang Province, made remarks after visiting simple residence of Imam Khomeini in historic district of Jamaran and highly luxurious Saadabad palace of deposed Shah (the ousted king of Iran).
The prominent preacher also praised the rich Iranian history, saying that Iran inherited a history and civilizations of thousands of years and has had maintained very close relations with the people of China.
Ahmad al-Sharif also appreciated the ongoing developments across the Muslim World, emphasizing that these movements must be directed towards befitting the Muslims.
He also noted that the scholars must adopt and resort to right and accurate methods and Islamic centers must be rightly used in order to preach and spread Islam.
Ahmad al-Sharif also reminded the significance of the holy city of Qom, saying it contains a lot of academic facilities and has produced a great number of intellectuals who can play a great role in introducing the precise teachings of Islam.
He also added that dozens of mosques and academic facilities are functioning in the Muslim-majority provinces of China.
Ahmad al-Sharif concluded that this all positives signs and benevolences happed in Iran due to wise leadership of Imam Khomeini and the victory of the Islamic revolution after paying visit to his home in historic district of Jamaran in Tehran.

Karbala is the Life (Karbala Rasm Nahee)

The theme of suffering and martyrdom occupies a central role in the history of religion from the earliest time. Already, in the myths of the ancient Near East, we hear of the hero who is slain but whose death, then, guarantees the revival of life: the names of Attis and Osiris from the Babylonian and Egyptian traditions respectively are the best examples for the insight of ancient people that without death there can be no continuation of life, and that the blood shed for a sacred cause is more precious than anything else. Sacrifices are a means for reaching higher and loftier stages of life; to give away parts of one's fortune, or to sacrifice members of one's family enhances one's religious standing; the Biblical and Qur'anic story of Abraham who so deeply trusted in God that he, without questioning, was willing to sacrifice his only son, points to the importance of such sacrifice. Iqbal was certainly right when he combined, in a well known poem in Bal-i Jibril (1936), the sacrifice of Ismail and the martyrdom of Husayn, both of which make up the beginning and the end of the story of the Ka'ba.

Main Azadar Hoon (Marsia) I am Mournful (Special in Muharram 2013)
The events that took place on the tenth of Muharram in the year 680 changed forever the character of this month by making it a month of mourning, at least for the Shiʿa. On that date, Husayn—the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad and the third Imam of Shiʿite Islam—was brutally killed on the battlefield of Karbala. In this battle Husayn's sons, male relatives, and followers also perished. The women of his encampment were taken as captives to Caliph Yazid in Damascus. This tragic event overshadows any other event in that month. Husayn's ordeal started on the first of Muharram, when he and his party were intercepted by Yazid's troops, and continued even after his death, with the captivity of the Karbala survivors. Although the tenth of Muharram (known as Ashura ), is the actual date of Husayn's death, the mourning has been extended to cover the whole month.
For the Shiʿa, the Muharram tragedy of Husayn is the greatest act of suffering and redemption in history. It acquired a timeless quality, and, therefore, apart from the yearly Muharram observances, the Shiʿa continually try to measure themselves against the principle of the paradigm of Husayn whenever they regard themselves as deprived, humiliated, or abused. In fact, one of the main slogans during the Islamic revolution in Iran (1978/79) chanted by the crowds or scribbled as graffiti on town and village walls was "Every day is Ashura; every place is Karbala; every month is Muharram." This same slogan was intoned on radio and television and was graphically depicted on posters and even postage stamps during Iran's eight-year (1980–1988) war against Iraq.

And remember the time when We made Kaaba a resort for mankind and a place of security; We said, 'Take ye the station of Abraham as a place of prayer.' And we commanded Abraham and Ismael, saying, 'Purify My House for those who perform the circuit and for those who remain therein for devotion and those who bow down and fall prostrate in Prayer.'
قَدْ نَرَى تَقَلُّبَ وَجْهِكَ فِي السَّمَاء فَلَنُوَلِّيَنَّكَ قِبْلَةً تَرْضَاهَا فَوَلِّ وَجْهَكَ شَطْرَ الْ مَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ وَحَيْثُ مَا كُنتُمْ فَوَلُّواْ وُجُوِهَكُمْ شَطْرَهُ وَإِنَّ الَّذِينَ أُوْتُواْ الْكِتَابَ لَيَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّهُ الْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّهِمْ وَمَا اللّهُ بِغَافِلٍ عَمَّا يَعْمَلُونَ
Verily, we see thee turning thy face often to heaven; surely, then, will we make thee turn to the Qiblah which thou likest. So turn thy face towards the Sacred Mosque (Masjid Al-Haram); and wherever you may be, turn your faces towards it. And they to whom the Book has been given know that this is the truth from their Lord; and Allah is not unmindful of what they do.
وَمِنْ حَيْثُ خَرَجْتَ فَوَلِّ وَجْهَكَ شَطْرَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ وَإِنَّهُ لَلْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكَ وَمَا اللّهُ بِغَافِلٍ عَمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ
And from wherever thou comest forth, turn thy face towards the Sacred Mosque (Masjid Al-Haram); for that is indeed the truth from thy Lord. And Allah is not unmindful of what you do.
وَمِنْ حَيْثُ خَرَجْتَ فَوَلِّ وَجْهَكَ شَطْرَ الْ مَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ وَحَيْثُ مَا كُنتُمْ فَوَلُّواْ وُجُوهَكُمْ شَطْرَهُ لِئَلاَّ يَكُونَ لِلنَّاسِ عَلَيْكُمْ حُجَّةٌ إِلاَّ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ مِنْهُمْ فَلاَ تَخْشَوْهُمْ وَاخْشَوْنِي وَلأُتِمَّ نِعْمَتِي عَلَيْكُمْ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَهْتَدُونَ
And from wheresoever thou comest forth, turn thy face towards the Sacred Mosque; and wherever you be, turn your faces towards it that people may have no argument against you, except those who are unjust - so fear them not, but fear Me - and that I may perfect My favour upon you, and that you may be rightly guided.

وفاقی وزرا نے اجلاس کے دوران کہاکہ متنازع فلم بنانے پر امریکا سے احتجاج اور امریکی سفیر کو دفتر خارجہ طلب کیا جائے ۔ کابینہ کے خصوصی اجلاس میں گستاخانہ فلم کی شدید مذمت بھی کی گئی۔

اجلاس میں کراچی اور لاہورکے سانحات میں قیمتی انسانی جانوں کے ضیاع پر ایک منٹ کی خاموشی اختیارکی گئی اورمرحومین کے ایصال ثواب کے لئے فاتحہ خوانی کی گئی۔

کابینہ کے خصوصی اجلاس میں گستاخانہ فلم کے حوالے سے پاکستانی عوام میں پائے جانے والے غم وغصے پر بھی تبادلہ خیال کیا گیا۔وزیر اعظم راجہ پرویزاشرف نے کہا کہ حکومت اس مسئلے کو ہر فورم پراٹھائے گی کیونکہ یہ عالم اسلام کے خلاف ایک سازش ہے۔

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani government has announced a national holiday on Friday to protest against the American anti-Islam that has caused an outrage throughout the Muslim world
The federal cabinet decided to make Friday an official “day of expression of love for the prophet” after discussing the “Innocence of Muslims” movie, which has triggered more than a week of violent protests across the Islamic world, a senior government official said.
The move came after religious parties called for a day of protest on Friday to denounce the film.
Interior Minister Rehman Malik, while speaking to media representatives earlier today, said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) would join protestors in their demonstrations.
The head of the Sunni Tehreek religious party on Monday urged people across the country to close their businesses and hold rallies against the film, which was made in the United States.
Sources said traders and transporters associations in the largest city and commercial hub Karachi had backed the call.
Around 500 protesting lawyers broke through a gate to Islamabad’s heavily-guarded diplomatic enclave on Wednesday, chanting anti-US slogans and castigating the Pakistan government for its “criminal silence” over the film.
The film has fueled outrage across the Muslim world, with more than 30 people have been killed around the world during more than a week of attacks and violent protests linked to the controversial film. Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh have all blocked access to YouTube, following the video-sharing website’s failure to take down the movie.
On Tuesday, over 2,000 protesters chanting anti-US slogans and burning the American flag gathered outside the US mission in Peshawar to vent their fury at the “Innocence of Muslims” film. Furious protestors in Karachi also marched towards the US consulate to protest against the film, which has triggered a week of deadly protests across the Muslim world.
There have been furious protests outside US embassies and other American symbols in at least 20 countries, and the American ambassador to Libya and three other US diplomats in the North African country have been among those killed.

Honorable Heads of state or Government, Esteemed UN Secretary General and Honorable Head of the UN General Assembly, Distinguished Ministers and heads of Delegations, Dear Participants, Ladies and Gentlemen
I thank the God Almighty for helping us to hold this very important meeting and I would like to express my appreciations as well as those of the people of Iran, to all the honorable participants for coming to Iran, your own home, to participate in the 16th NAM Summit and thank you for your trust in people and government of Iran.
We honor and remember the late founders of the Non-Aligned Movement Mr. Jawaharlal Nehru from India, Jamal Abdul Nasser from Egypt, Josip Broz Tito from former Yugoslavia, Ahmed Sukarno from Indonesia and Kwame Nkrumah from Ghana and also our other colleagues who have passed away within the period of the last two recent Summits such as esteemed presidents of Philippine, Nigeria, Ghana and leader of North Korea and former president of Algeria. We also honor and remember late Mr. Rajaei and late Mr. Bahonar, the martyred president and martyred prime minister of Iran who were assassinated by terrorists about thirty one years ago. So I would like to ask honorable participants to observe one minute silence.
I would like to express my sincere appreciation to His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Morsi, the Honorable President of the Arab Republic of Egypt for his constructive efforts during the chair of the Non-Aligned Movement.

Dear Colleagues,
We have gathered here to review the process of changes and developments in the present world and to make better future for our people and the human community, at large.
There is no doubt that all of us and even all the nations and states are dissatisfied with the present conditions.
The historical and common causes and wishes of humanity, such as the eradication of poverty, discrimination, humiliation, war and hatred have not yet been materialized. People have not yet been able to establish a prosperous life full of beauty, compassion, love and good health on the basis of justice, freedom, dignity and sustainable peace.
For hundreds of years, human sufferings have continued; and in the recent era, new forms of slavery and colonization have been imposed on nations.
Excellencies,
Several capitalist groups from only a few of the world countries are controlling main centers of economy and wealth, while the majority of the people of the world are suffering from poverty and are required to pay the price of mismanagement and abuse by those few countries.
Almost all the capitalist countries are in debts more than their GDP; and this means they have in fact gone bankrupt and are exploiting the resources of other countries extensively without their permission while they need their own resources more than those capitalist countries.
They are also creating paper assets and imposing continuous inflation on all the other nations. They plunder the wealth of other countries without making any efforts. Some reports indicate that the US government has created paper assets of more than 32,000 billion dollars.
Most of Africa’s and Latin America’s main and rich mines are under the control of several companies affiliated to global capitalists; this is while people of these regions have not been allowed to exploit even a slight of these God-given wealth and resources.
The economic mechanisms of the world have been developed in a manner that the problems of some capitalist states are systematically spread to other counties in exchange for their wealth.
Advanced science and technologies are monopolized by certain groups which in many cases use them as a tool to impose their political objectives.
Human and indigenous cultures, which are the fruit of thousands of years of efforts based on the divine nature of all human beings and are shared in depth and concept by all nations, and at the same time are considered as the beauties of human community, have all been under organized assault so that nations are deprived from their identity and be vulnerable to hegemony.
They are trying to undermine the personality of woman and the foundation of family. Efforts are underway to impose a particular type of ill-identified individualistic and collective life on nations.
From the political point of view, the basic rights and independence of nations are constantly exposed to threats; countries are being occupied under various pretexts. The progress and authority of independent nations are being demonized and impeded.
Arms sale as a lucrative business is considered normal. Wars and conflicts are being imposed on nations and states in order to keep the arms market profitable.
Human trafficking, poppy cultivation, drug dealing and terrorism are clearly supported and spread. And therefore, they have turned sustainable peace and security as an unachievable wish.
It is evident we need more time to explain more about different aspects of problems and maladies.
Dear Colleagues,
Justice and freedom seekers as well as the righteous late leaders of the Non-Aligned Movement have stood against such injustices and called to reform these processes. Many uprisings and efforts have been also put in place in this regard.
However despite all these very valuable and sacred efforts, the state of affairs has not yet changed in favor of nations and in line with sustainable peace and justice.
The important question is: What is the main reason behind this? Some are deceitfully insisting to attribute the reason to the weakness of nations.
I think the main reason behind the failure of the international community to establish sustainable peace and realize human causes should be searched in the foundations of the thought and performance of the current global management.
Despite the establishment of the United Nations, which created lots of hope, and in spite of the many efforts by the sympathizers, the global governance has impeded the establishment of sustainable peace and security and a better life for people.
Excellencies,
The present global governance, as the main reason behind the undesirable conditions of the world in the past two centuries, has been having two main important and influential features:
First: Monopolization
It is evident that several certain states and more precisely several capitalist groups have monopolized the main centers of power and economy of the world.
For example, all of us in the Non-Aligned Movement are present in the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. Yet, independent managers and experts of these two important organizations are being influenced and pressured by some certain states which prevent them from offering fair and expert comments. In fact, in many cases in practice, the IMF and the World Bank are forced to justify the unilateral and opportunistic policies of certain states.
Monopoly of the United Nations Security Council is quite evident to all. After 65 years, and despite of the fact that all the countries of the world emphasized the legitimate rights of the people of Palestine, but in practice the policies of the Security Council have led to the confirmation of the fake criminal Zionist regime and further expansion of its occupation and crimes and oppressions.
In Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan, the people are killed and assassinated in an organized manner and the Security Council justifies all these situations, since the main party responsible for all these events is a permanent member of the Security Council wielding veto power.
Which independent country could achieve its fundamental rights by relying on the Security Council without being worried or making concessions?
How can we imagine that the UN Security Council with certain countries such as US and UK with veto power in their hands and being party to conflicts themselves could act independently and on the basis of justice. The independent states and nations do not have any source for realization of their legitimate rights. The Security Council has even seized the authority of General Assembly and imposes its domination on it.
Secondly: Selfishness and domineering
We all know that the rulers of today’s world are those who were colonial powers and slave owners of yesterday who have taken possession of the world’s power and wealth today the guise of new slogans and new methods without changing their domineering and selfish attitudes.
They see themselves as the superior race and consider others as inferiors and slave.
They give themselves the right to create ethnic, racial and religious conflicts among nations and pave the ground for further domination and hegemony.
They again give themselves the right to humiliate other nations and violate their rights and to start war for their own economic interests and to massacre a great number of people in this regard.
They allow themselves to impede the progress of other societies and plunder their wealth, personality and independence.
They have no mercy even on their own people. Look at the status quo in North America and Europe.
People in these countries are hostage to a few exclusivist and hegemonic political parties and their voice of protest to such monopolistic and hegemonic management is not heard.
Instead of developing compassion, love and affection towards humans and nations, they have based their management on promoting disunity and conflict in the world in a selfish and arrogant manner.
They only and only think of their legitimate and illegitimate interests’,and in their thought, divine and human values such as justice, freedom, human dignity and basic rights of nations are ignored and should be sacrificed for their unlimited profit and interests
It is crystal clear that such a management is to the disadvantage of all nations and even themselves. The continuation of such a management is definitely impossible.
An important change should occur and conditions be changed to the benefit of humans.
We should all rise to establish a new world order based on fair mechanisms, common logic based on peaceful co-existence through understanding, cooperation, and participation in important collective decision making at the global level.
My dear friends
In this regard, the most important and main issue is the global management, which should be fundamentally and principally reformed. Otherwise, if we sit together for years without reforming the current global governance fundamentally and take thousands of small and big decisions and try to implement them, our period will also terminate without any fundamental and detrimental change.
In the joint global governance, fundamental changes should happen to the benefit of nations and in line with justice.
It is clear that global governance in future should have two specific features:
First, love and compassion towards common divine and humanistic values such as justice, freedom, human dignity, realization of the rights, mutual respect and affection toward humankind across the globe.
Dear Colleagues
Without promoting compassion and founding our deeds and decisions on affection, and replacing selfishness and bullying in relations between humans with friendship, the establishment of peace, serenity, progress and welfare will be impossible. Slavery, colonialism, plundering, domineering and warmongering are the result of the lack of compassion and affection in the hearts of a few but powerful people who are promoting hatred and selfishness.
We all should be promoting friendship and compassion. The global management should be in hands of people whose hearts are full of compassion and affection towards humans, righteousness, justice, freedom and human dignity; those who become sad when nations are sad and those who become happy when nations are happy; those who love all and all love them; those who are not seeking personal, partisan and group interests; those who are not seeking domination over others but prefer the rights and interests of humans over anything else.
And secondly, joint participation in global management
Experience has it that monopoly in any area and more importantly in the global management will bring about corruption.
A mechanism should be devised so that all countries participate in the global management in an atmosphere of fairness and sympathy and based on compassion and affection. Monopoly in global management should be broken.
If all countries have active participation in global management, no opportunity will be provided for certain countries to discriminate and bully others and impose their own will on all. In this way, opportunity will be provided for all to make use of the available facilities.
It is clear that basics of thought and social interaction should change from selfishness and bullying to compassion, affection and an interaction based on justice and respect. The realization of such a big human cause is the mission of you and me.
I believe this is the fundamental cure for the diseases which have plagued the human society for several hundred years; and it can be administered.

We enjoy great capacities. Under joint participation, we can devise necessary mechanisms such as an independent political arbitration council and monetary fund, bank, insurance and other economic bodies. We can also invent new methods of commerce, such as barter and currency swap and end the domination of one specific foreign currency from global transactions. We can provide better conditions for our nations and have a more effective and constructive impact on global management mechanisms.
We can implement our plans more efficiently and promptly in order to safeguard our culture for the betterment of our youth and women.
The Non-Aligned Movement, in order to guarantee its survival and expedite the achievement of its supreme goals, should found entities to make use of the capacities of the youth and women for the global flourishing of the movement.
I believe that the wishes of the founders of the Non-Aligned Movement can be summarized in the realization of the idea of joint global management which would guarantee the establishment of sustainable peace based on justice, freedom and human dignity—a heavy responsibility which is on our shoulder.
The capacities of the Non-Aligned Movement and the Member and Observer States are much bigger.
Our movement can play a determining role in international relations to the benefit of members and to the benefit of peace and justice.
We can establish a temporary secretariat and open necessary bodies for the organization and consolidation of the powers of the Member States in various political, economic and cultural areas as well as bilateral and multilateral cooperation in order to build a better world and establish sustainable peace.
The movement can help the United Nations and its subsidiaries in an organized manner to reform the standing management structures and approaches.
The noble nation of Iran, thanks to its historical experience and great achievements in confrontation with the pressures and problems created by oppressor powers, is fully prepared to use all its capacities in cooperation with you to reform the standing global management and establish good global governance in view of your participation.
Dear Friends
We are fortunately in a turning point in history. Marxism has collapsed and the bullying capitalism is reaching its end. Its historical days are numbered. This reality is indicative of the correctness of the non-aligned nations who have identified and denounced the historical diversion of tyrant regimes.

Today is the day of nations. Today is the day of re-defining and pursuing the main causes of the Non-Aligned Movement and planning for the realization of all human causes and goals. Without doubt, if the capacities of this great movement are properly exploited, it is possible to have a better and shorter transition from the status quo to the new era with less harm and open a new nice chapter in global landscape to humanity.
Fortunately, our goals in the joint global management are the same goals of the divine prophets and the righteous in establishing sustainable peace and justice and promoting compassion and affection across the globe. The God Almighty has promised that the day when nations are prepared and determined, this great cause and goal will be realized by the promised savior of nations, the real lover of humans and the true administrator of justice, Hazrat Mahdi (May God Hasten His Reappearance) in the accompany of the Jesus Christ (PBUH) and all the other righteous and freedom and justice seekers of the world.
The necessary precondition for transition to such an era is to promote compassion and unity and adopt a global approach towards cooperation and joint and active global governance.
This, I believe, is the right way and in fact the only key for humans to free themselves from the oppressors and tyrants, and perceive a prosperous future for humanity—a way on which men and women will go with more knowledge, enthusiasm and steadfastness.
This is the way; the way is open; and now is the beginning.
Once again, I thank you all and all those who made their best for this Summit Meeting to be held successfully. I truly welcome the brotherly cooperation and support of you.
